StocksandGreen
The slender roots of this reliable variety are deliciously sweet and rich in beta-carotene. They can grow to 25cms in length, and their vibrant colour makes them ideal for using raw in salads or for cooking. They keep well over winter, too. Harvest June to November. Planting sow in situ March July. Sow sparingly, 1cm deep, in finely raked soil thats free of weeds and stones. Sow in rows spaced 30cms apart and water with a fine spray so as not to wash the seeds away. Thin seedlings to 10cms spacing. Carrots do not like freshly manured soil, so prepare beds autumn before. Water well until established. Aftercare during cold spells, protect early sowings with a cloche. Use horticultural fleece to protect from carrot fly. Harvest smaller carrots as required, leaving others to grow larger. Store in dry sand. Eventual height & spread 65 15cms.
