StocksandGreen
Ideal for growing in the vegetable garden, or in a deep container, these crunchy orange carrots are ideal for organic growing, because they have a natural resistance to carrot fly, a notoriously destructive pest. Exceptionally tasty, they can be harvested right through the season, from July to October. Planting sow in situ April June, scattering seeds sparingly in rows that are 30-45cms apart. The seed bed should be sieved and raked to a fine tilth, and free of weeds and stones. As they grow, thin the seedlings 5cms spacing. Carrots do not like freshly manured soil. Keep moist seedbed until germinated. Aftercare use horticultural fleece to protect from carrot fly and earth up the carrots as they grow to prevent green crowns developing. Store in dry sand, in a cool place, for up to 4 months. Eventual height & spread 30 10cms.
