Creating a soft cloud of exquisite pink flowers, this distinctive annual is greatly valued by flower arrangers. It also looks delightful in prairie planting schemes and cottage gardens. Interplanted with ornamental grasses, it makes for a particularly stylish blend of textures. Flowers July to October. Planting sow under glass February March or in situ March April. Surface sow into well-prepared soil thats been raked to a fine tilth. Cover as sparingly as possible with soil. Transplant indoor-grown seedlings when large enough, or thin to 40-50cms apart. To encourage a bushy habit and more flowers, pinch out the tips of the plants. Aftercare do not fertilise: this will generally lead to foliage growth rather than improved flowering. For floral arrangements, cut when almost all the flowers have opened on their stems. Self-seeds freely. Eventual height & spread 70 45cms.
