Looking wonderful in a gravel garden, or at the back of a border, this attractive native variety is covered in grey hair, exploited at one time for lamp wicks, and bears large, sunshine yellow flowers that bees and pollinators find very attractive. Flowers May to August. Planting sow under glass in February March, using a good quality seed compost in deep pots or root trainers. Germinate at 15C-18C, keeping. Reduce watering when seedlings have sprouted and transplant them into pots when big enough to handle. When there is no longer a threat of frost, plant out 60cms spacing. Alternatively, sow in situ July August. Aftercare keep an eye out for Mullein Moths, large caterpillars with distinctive black and yellow spots. Eventual height & spread 180 60cms.
