StocksandGreen
A cottage garden classic, this lovely annual is very easy to grow and much visited by birds and beneficial insects. Its perfect for cutting, and the intriguing seed pods can be dried for use in floral arrangements. Flowers June to September. Planting sow in situ March May, 3mm deep in rows that are 30cms apart. Alternatively, simply scatter the seeds and rake into the fine soil. Once they appear, thin the seedlings out to avoid congestion. For an early display in the following year, sow outside September November. Aftercare deadhead to avoid self-seeding, but leave some seedpods to develop, cutting and drying them before they open. Eventual height & spread 60 30cms.
