We recommend placing the solar panel in a well-lit area to ensure maximum performance of the water fountain. The great thing about this water feature is that it benefits from both solar and battery power. When switched to the ON position, the solar panel powers the pump if sunlight is strong and charges the battery(1 x 2000 7.4V Lithium Ion). When low levels of sunlight is detected the solar panel and the battery work together to power the water feature. If no sunlight is detected, the battery will power the water feature until the battery is depleted. When the switch is placed in the OFF position and the solar panel is in the sun, the solar panel will continue to charge the battery without powering the pump. This water fountain is IP44 rated making it suitable for outdoor use.
