This versatile annual is prized for its unashamedly showy, rich purple flowers. Ideal for summer borders and large patio containers, it makes a stylish cut flower, too. If the blooms are left to mature, the seeds provide a valuable food source for garden birds. Flowers June to October. Planting sow under glass, February April, in moist soil, and keep at 20C, or sow in situ May June, using a cloche to protect the seedlings if necessary. Harden off and plant out at 45cms spacing once all danger of frost has passed. Aftercare pinch out growing tips to encourage the growth of side shoots. Eventual height & spread 45 45cms.
