Irresistible to bees and butterflies, this short-lived perennial is very much at home in a sunny border, but will also thrive in a large patio container. It also makes a particularly good cut flower. Flowers July to October. Planting sow indoors February March, 5mm deep in moist seed compost. Propagate at 15-20C until germination, and transplant seedlings into individual pots, handling them by the leaves rather than the stem. Harden off before planting out at 30cms spacing once all risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow in situ April May in fine, pre-watered soil, 1.5cm deep. Aftercare deadhead to promote fresh flowering. For cut flowers, pick when the buds are starting to show colour. Eventual height & spread 60 50cms.
