A good source of minerals and vitamins, this versatile vegetable also has considerable ornamental value. Its mid-green leaves carry a distinctive tracery of purple veins, making them an attractive addition to salads. They can also be used in stir-fries and other cooked dishes. Harvest all year round. Planting sow all year round on a warm windowsill, or sow in situ February May, or August October, avoiding hottest months. Sow thinly 510mm deep in drills or in pots or guttering. Thin to 10cms spacing for cut and come again crops, and up to 30cms for the harvesting of bigger leaves. Aftercare keep generously watered. Eventual height & spread 15 20cms.
