This is a beautiful and highly versatile vegetable that plays a key role in many Mediterranean and Asian recipes. While it grows best in a greenhouse, it can also be cultivated outdoors provided it enjoys a sheltered spot and as much sunlight as possible. Harvest from August to October. Planting Soak seeds in warm water before sowing. Sow indoors from January to April, -April, directly onto seed compost, covering with a 6mm layer of soil or vermiculate. Propagate at 18-25C. and transplant seedlings to 8cm pots when large enough. Grow on at 15C+. For greenhouse cultivation, transplant to 20cm pots, or growbags. Aftercare water and mist plants regularly, feeding with high potassium fertiliser when flowers set. Stake for support and pinch out growing tip when plant reaches 30cms. For larger fruits, restrict to 56 per plant. Eventual height & spread 75 60cms.
