An enormously popular perennial thats splendidly long-flowering, with a sturdy upright habit that requires no support. Its dainty clusters of purple flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies. This selection flowers in its first year and will self-seed freely if allowed to do so. Flowers July to October. Planting sow under glass February April into a good quality seed compost. Cover with a thin layer of compost and keep at 18-21C. Germination can be slow but do not exclude light. When seedlings have sprouted, grow on in cooler conditions. When large enough to handle, transplant into pots. Harden off before planting out at 40cms spacing once the threat of has passed. Aftercare the more this selection is cut back, the more it will flower. Deadhead to prevent self-seeding. Cut back in spring once new shoots appear. Eventual height & spread 120 30cms.
