StocksandGreen
Perfect for less formal planting schemes, such as cottage gardens or meadows, this enchanting and reliable annual self-seeds joyously and is very attractive to butterflies, bees and other pollinators. The papery seed heads are ideal for drying and look very stylish in flower arrangements. Flowers April July. Planting sow in situ April June or September October. Plant 3mm deep in drills, 30cms apart and keep moist while germinating which can take some time. Autumn sowings that are stratified in the cold of winter are often the most successful. Thin to 15cms apart in moist, well drained, soil in semi-shade. Aftercare removing seed pods will prevent self-seeding. Eventual height & spread 90 30cms.
