Dipsacus Fullonum - Teasel Seeds

StocksandGreen
This pretty biennial wildflower is prized for its dried seed heads, which can look particularly stylish in a vase of cut flowers. Bees and birds love this variety, with the seeds being a valuable autumn food source for goldfinches. Left over winter, the seed heads add interest, especially when spangled with frost. Flowers May to July. Planting sow in situ April May, for flowers the following year. Sow 6mm deep in a well-prepared, weed-free border, with 30cms spacing. Water generously a couple of times a week to encourage the seedlings to seek water below rather than on the surface. Thin seedlings to 30cms spacing. A light frost should not damage them. Aftercare this variety self-seeds freely remove any mis-placed seedlings before they mature. Eventual height & spread 180 40cms.
