This handsome Spanish native produces large blue flowers with distinctive crimson stamens, and these give way to intriguing seed pods. As with all Nigellas, it makes a stunning cut flower and its a magnet for bees and butterflies. Flowers July to September. Planting sow seeds in situ, 3mm deep and 30cms apart, or just scatter the seeds and lightly rake in. Once they appear, thin the seedlings out to avoid congestion. For an early display of flowers in the following year, sow outside between August and November. Aftercare when growing for cut flowers, allow some to develop their distinctive seed pods. Eventual height & spread 60 30cms.
