StocksandGreen
This is a sun-loving perennial often found in cottage garden plantings, where it flowers from early summer until the start of autumn. Highly attractive to bees, the flowers have an intriguingly spidery look. The foliage can be dried to make a bergamot infusion. Flowers July to September. Planting sow under glass January April, lightly pressing the seeds into moist seed compost and covering lightly with soil or vermiculite. Keep at 20C to aid germination. Prick out once seedlings are big enough. Harden off young plants before planting out at 50cms spacing once all risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow in situ September November for flowers the following summer. Aftercare keep generously watered during dry spells. Divide clumps every 34 years. Eventual height & spread 45 25cms.
