This intriguing annual is highly prized by flower arrangers, as its tall spires of bell-shaped, papery blooms will complement other flowers in a vase. Theyre long-lasting and can successfully be dried at the end of summer and enjoyed out season. Flowers July to September. Planting sow under glass February April, 3mm deep in seed compost. Place the trays and pots of sown seeds in sealed plastic bags and chill at 3-5C for 2 weeks, as cold is required for germination, and propagate at 18-21C until this occurs. Transplant seedlings into larger pots when big enough to handle and grow on. Harden off before planting out at 30cms spacing, once the threat of frost has receded. Aftercare may require support in exposed sites. Eventual height & spread 95 40cms.
