StocksandGreen
This elegant perennial is often found in the wild, where it favours a damp, boggy soil or the bank of a stream. It has narrow, mid-green leaves that form a dense clump, and in summer this is topped by tall spikes of starry, neon-pink flowers which are a magnet for butterflies and bees. Flowers July to September. Planting sow under cover at any time of year, in trays of moist seed compost, and cover with a fine layer of soil. Water from base of tray and germinate at 18-22C-22C. Transfer seedlings to individual pots when big enough to handle. Harden off outdoors and transplant to garden at 50cms spacing once frosts have finished. Alternatively, sow in situ April October, in prepared soil raked to a fine tilth. Gently rake in seeds and water until germination occurs. Aftercare remove faded flowers to keep the plant looking tidy. Eventual height & spread 90 60cms.
