StocksandGreen
A real stand-out among other hot colours, this dependable perennial Avens flowers exuberantly from spring until early autumn, carrying its semi-double scarlet flowers on sturdy stems that rise above a mass of woolly, deeply-lobed leaves. Flowers May to September. Planting sow under glass February April, gently pressing the seeds into the surface of a good quality seed compost and covering with vermiculite. To aid germination, keep at around 20C, always ensuring the compost is most but not soggy. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out into individual pots and grow on. Plant out in the garden, at 40cms spacing when there is no longer a threat of frost. Aftercare cutting back spent flower stems after first flowering will often result in a second flush of blooms. . Eventual height & spread 70 45cms.
