StocksandGreen
This is a delightful biennial and a prime choice for a wildlife-friendly garden as its blue, bell-shaped flowers are a great favourite with many pollinators. The bristly leaves form a rosette at the base, and the flowers are carried on elegant, airy stems. Flowers May to September. Planting sow in situ, preferably in a sunny spot, March May, or August September, into well-drained, prepared soil, raked to a fine tilth. Plant sparingly in drills, 30cms apart, and cover very lightly with 56mm of soil, or simply rake the seeds into the surface. Keep generously watered until seedlings are established. Thin out to 50cms spacing when the plants are big enough to handle. Aftercare deadheading will produce further flowers. Leave some spent flowers on the plants to self-seed or pull them up and compost them at the end of the season. Eventual height & spread 90 45cms.
