Enchantingly old fashioned, these traditional Sweet Williams produce their claret-chocolate blooms in spring. Superb as cut flowers, they can last for 2 3 weeks in a vase when picked young. They associate beautifully with lime-green varieties and tulips. Flowers May to July. Planting sow under glass April May, 1cm deep in seed soil. Between May and June, seeds can be sown in situ, in a moist well prepared seed bed. Plant out or thin out seedlings to 30cms spacing. When grown under glass, harden off young plants and plant them out when frosts have finished. Biennial, this selection flowers in the second spring. Aftercare feed with a balanced fertiliser and deadhead regularly. Eventual height & spread 40 30cms.
