StocksandGreen
Butterflies and bees flock to these pretty cornflowers, which are particularly easy to grow and bloom early in the season. Very much at home in a cottage garden, where they associate well with Larkspur, Cosmos and Ammi majus, they also make an alluring cut flower. Flowers May to September. Planting sow in-situ from March May, in drills just 3-4mm deep. Alternatively, sow in pots or seed trays on the surface of moist seed compost and cover sparingly with vermiculite or compost. Transplant, or thin out, to 15cms between plants. Sow under glass August September and overwinter for stronger plants the following spring. Aftercare take flowers for cutting in the morning. Resist feeding, as this only produces more foliage at the expense of flowers, and deadhead regularly to extend the season. Eventual height & spread 60 20cms.
