Each year these carry attractive silvery catkins studded with golden anthers in late winter to spring. Fully hardy, with dark green leaves with a silvery-grey-green underside in summer. In mid- to late spring, the bare branches are covered in 'silver pussies' that turn into golden male catkins, these are superb in cut-flower arrangements.An ideal tree for the small garden.
